How can we help someone break the distress-eat-distress cycle?
The theory of kindful eating helps you understand why people get stuck in this cycle. With this information you are then able to ask people questions that help them sense of their experience from a bedrock of compassion and safety. Finding ways out of confusion reduce overwhelm which better enables someone to engage with emotions and histories that may be painful.
